   Jim Daniel does not have many hobbies, but he does love people.    Daniel has met a lot of folks while he has cut hair at his barber shop in Cornelia for almost 60 years, and he has not made time for many other pursuits.

   Habersham Central’s boys could not overcome a mid-game drought Friday night in a 56-46 loss to Lanier.    The Raiders (8-11) fell behind by as many as 17 early in the second half before a late push came up short in search of the team’s first regional win.

Tallulah Falls boys fall after 10 straight wins

   After running their win streak to 10 games Friday night with a victory over Prince Avenue Christian School, Saturday brought Tallulah Falls’ boys basketball team its first loss in 51 days, as they fell fell at home to Class A private No. 3 Galloway 62-33.

Habersham Middle School boys teams sweep titles

   On Monday night, Habersham County’s seventh and eighth grade boys basketball teams were crowned Northeast Georgia Independent Athletic Association (NEGIAA) champions, as the seventh grade team beat Franklin County and the eighth graders topped Madison County.

Habersham's 7th grade girls top Rabun County for title

   Habersham County’s seventh grade girls team capped off a nearly-perfect season last Saturday, as they took down Rabun County 31-25 to be crowned the Northeast Georgia Independent Athletic Association (NEGIAA) champions.

Habersham County Emergency Services gaining equipment, personnel

   Habersham County Emergency Services is sprucing up its fleet while saving county taxpayers money at the same time.    The county recently completed a remounted ambulance that saved between $90,000 and $100,000 from what it would have cost to buy another brand new ambulance.

   A Demorest home burned completely Monday afternoon in a fire, the cause of which was still unknown a day later.

Park visitations up during pandemic

Cornelia Fire Station's opening sparks new era

   Fire Chief Billy Jenkins will be busy the next couple of days helping his staff move into Cornelia’s second fire station after it began operating Monday at 8 a.m. He’s excited about the move, as it has been a long time coming.
