Local man makes beautiful art out of old tires

   About 18 years ago, Todd Lincks sat at his best friend’s tire shop and watched as he paid “a whole lot of money” to get rid of a semi-truck full of used tires.

Raider swimmers add another state cut before regional meet

   Habersham Central’s boys swim team added another state qualifying time during Saturday’s Shiver Me Timbers Meet at Tallulah Falls School, as Josh Martinez earned his first individual state cut of the season in the 100 Yard Butterfly.     Martinez took third in the event with a time of 57.

Slow third quarter dooms Raiders at North Hall

   For the second time this season, Habersham Central traveled to North Hall. Unfortunately, Tuesday night’s game ended differently from the first matchup, as the Raiders fell 57-47.

Lady Raiders grind it out, get even with Stephens County

   It was not a game for the Springfield archives, but Habersham Central’s girls grinded it out Tuesday night and found a way to get even with Stephens County in a 42-39 road win.

Tallulah Falls boys run winning streak to seven

   The No. 10 Tallulah Falls Indians won Tuesday night to keep their winning streak going at seven in a row, downing Athens Academy, 58-35.     Gabe Keene led TFS with a season-high 24 points, while Simeon Respress and Sammy Davis both chipped in with nine points.

Gailey returns home with coaching likely in rear-view mirror

   Chan Gailey thought he was done coaching two other times, so maybe this is not the end of his long career in football.    But it might be the end.

Dacula edges Lady Raiders, takes boys game also in regional play

   In a physical region matchup that saw ejections, overtime and a near buzzer-beater, Habersham Central’s Lady Raiders fell 50-45 to Dacula on Friday night.     “It was a very physical game,” said Lady Raiders’ head coach Bill Bradley.
Denika Lightbourne scored 14 points with five steals, four rebounds and three assists last Saturday in the Lady Indians’ home win over Prince Avenue Christian.

Tallulah Falls sweeps Prince Avenue

   The Tallulah Falls School girls hoopsters won their Region 8-A Private opener and the boys rose to 2-0 in league play last Saturday by defeating visiting Prince Avenue Christian.

   The Tallulah Falls Railroad X5 Caboose sits quietly in Cornelia, but its history contains dozens of stories worth telling.    Within the past decade, it has been restored at least once.
