Raider Champions League creates shooting stars

   Each Saturday at North Habersham Middle School (NHMS), the gym comes alive for a couple of hours with the sound of bouncing basketballs, whistles and cheers from the crowd while the Raider Champions League takes the court.

Officers chase same car for second time in 2020

   Two women fled Habersham County Sheriff’s deputies late Tuesday night, leading to a chase and a crash that took a power pole and traffic light in Cornelia.     Around 11:45 p.m.

Drug Court participants help children smile at Christmas

   Mikel Bramblett and Jarrod Seabolt never met before they found themselves in the Drug Court program, but they realized quickly that maybe they could help each other – and others, too.

Vaccines begin in Habersham County

   The first box of 500 Moderna vaccines for COVID-19 arrived Wednesday morning at Habersham Medical Center, and the inoculations began within hours.    More than 100 hospital staff members were signed up to take the vaccine by the time they started around 2:45 p.m.

Raiders land 11 on all-region team

   Habersham Central’s Joshua Pickett was named Region 8-6A player of the year by the league’s coaches over the weekend, and his backfield mate Jackson Clouatre was named the top offensive player to help lead a group of 11 Raiders on the all-region team.

Baby alerts family to rental cabin fire

   Just after midnight into the early morning hours Tuesday, four people escaped a vacation rental that caught fire thanks to a baby’s cry.    The call came in around 12:30 a.m. at 520 Turkey Crest Drive near the Habersham-Rabun county line.
