Baldwin City Hall opens to the public Monday, June 8

At its work session Tuesday night, the city of Baldwin announced that it would be reopening to the public on Monday, June 8.     “We’re going to open up city hall Monday to better serve our citizens,” City Administrator Jerry Neace said.

Habersham County’s Commissioners were hoping to make a decision about their SPLOST VII projects Monday night, but two factors caused them to put it all on hold once again.

Hospital gets supply of PPE from Ford Motor Company

Habersham Medical Center obtained a supply of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) from Ford Motor Company late last week.    HMC purchased 120 surgical gowns and 5,000 full face shields to aid staffers in the continuing battle against COVID-19. The gowns are washable up to 50 times.

Dead man found near Mt. Airy railroad tracks was hit by train

A White County man was found dead by the Norfolk Southern Railroad tracks Friday morning in Mt. Airy.     The victim was identified as Andrew Dylan Clayborn, 33 of Cleveland by Habersham County Deputy Coroner Kenneth Franklin.    Franklin said Saturday the official autopsy report is still pending.
