Paramedic avoids serious injury in mishap on routine call

   Habersham County firefighter/paramedic Jenifer Bennett averted serious injury after her foot was pinned by a vehicle during what seemed like a routine emergency call.     Habersham County Emergency Services Director Chad Black said on Saturday at 5 p.m.

Student film project comes to Habersham County

   A historic property in Mt. Airy was recently the site of a movie being filmed by a group of senior Savannah College of Art and Design (Atlanta) students.     The movie is titled “Homestead” and is considered a senior capstone project for the students.

Father of three stabbed to death in Mt. Airy

   A Toccoa man was stabbed to death late Saturday night in a Mt. Airy home, leading to Habersham County’s first murder charge of the new year.    EMS personnel tried to resuscitate Joshua Matthew Canady, 37, on the scene but were unsuccessful.    Kayla Marie Parker, 31, of Mt.

   Habersham County will once again take the lead for the state of Georgia on a pilot program to create a child abuse task force to make sure children get protection and justice.
