   A man was flown out by Air Life crews Tuesday morning after suffering second- and third-degree burns after his makeshift heating arrangement exploded.    Habersham Dispatch got a call regarding a possible explosion near Living Faith Lane in Demorest at 10:12 a.m. Tuesday.

   Citing “incorrect assumptions, unfounded accusations and hostilities” about their plans, Baldwin city officials announced they would not pursue annexation of multiple unincorporated islands despite having a first reading on it at their previous meeting.

   The new Senior Wellness Center has fostered a booming growth of participation in programs offered to local senior citizens.    Participation in Silver Sneakers and other exercise classes up dramatically across the board, and more seniors are gathering for meals than ever before.

Habersham EMS gets state grant to let paramedics administer blood in ambulances

   Habersham County is poised to be one of three pilot counties in the state to have its emergency medical technicians able to administer blood to trauma patients in the field.    Right now, EMTs can do a plasma transfer but cannot initiate whole blood before the patient reaches the hospital.
