COUNTY COMMISSION DISTRICT 5: Arnold hoping this run is the charm

   Locke Arnold cannot even remember how many times he has run for District 5 commissioner, but he will not stop trying to get his message out to the people.    “We have problems,” Arnold said. “We spend too much money that we don’t have. We just raised taxes. We are hiring too many people.

COUNTY COMMISSION DISTRICT 5: Akins running again to finish projects

   Ty Akins is in his second year as chairman of the Habersham County Board of Commissioners, but he is hoping to serve one full term representing District 5.    “I didn’t do a full term to begin with, and I would like to serve one full term,” Akins said.

Forum brings candidates to the people as early voting dawns

District 4 County Commissioner candidates Bruce Harkness and Wade Rhodes were so excited to talk to the people Tuesday night that they often blew through the red light.

COUNTY COMMISSION DISTRICT 1: Woodall wants to monitor county spending

   Kelly Woodall has been involved in business and economic development for most of his adult life, and he wants to bring a fiscal conservative platform to the county commission.    “Government should be the last option not the first,” Woodall said.

SCHOOL BOARD DISTRICT 2: Barron looks to maintain success

   The Habersham County Board of Education’s District 2 incumbent Robert Barron is running for his fifth term against opponent Ernie Garrett.    Barron taught for over 30 years at Habersham Central along with driving school buses. He currently teaches at Tallulah Falls School.

Inspire, prepare, empower

   Alice Brewer is ready to retire from Habersham County Schools, but her impact goes far beyond the walls of the school.    Brewer has worked in school systems for 30 years, the last seven as the Career Technical and Agricultural Education (CTAE) Director for Habersham County.
