‘Fueled’ by past, Raiders attack spring practice

As Habersham Football continues working through spring practice, there’s an unspoken uncomfortability throughout the locker room. Last year’s team left much to be desired as evidenced by its 3-7 final record.

United Way raises $29K with clay shoot

The Habersham County United Way hosted its 2023 Spring Clay Shoot on April 29. It was a record breaking fundraiser for the semiannual event, as 30 teams registered to shoot and more than $29,000 was raised.

Mulligan comes full circle back to Piedmont

Almost 10 years since receiving his doctorate at the school, Dr. Octavius Mulligan will be returning to walk the halls of Piedmont University. This time, though, he will be on the other side of the desk, serving as the school’s newest Dean of the College of Education.

Clarkesville doctor killed in plane crash

A Clarkesville doctor died Sunday night when his plane went down near the Tennessee-Georgia border. The single-engine Cessna 182 flown by Dr. Lionel Meadows of Clarkesville was traveling from South Bend, Ind., to Jackson County Airport on Sunday night. It was expected to land at 7:22 p.m.

Scout makes it from Cub to Eagle

Starting from a young age as a cub scout, Christian Cooper has been working toward a higher goal. Cooper joined the cub scouts in second grade, and by the time sixth grade came around, he joined the boy scouts.
