Locals react to waste plant plans

Recent approval from the City of Baldwin has brought the company ReveSolutions into the city limits along Industrial Park Road. ReveSolutions will be located on the same road as businesses that are a part of the Airport Business Park, but it is not part of the park.

Festival fun takes over county Saturday

Saturday brings the true start of summer when the 61st Mountain Laurel Festival comes to Clarkesville. The festival kicks off with the annual Mountain Laurel parade at 10 a.m., proceeding down Washington Street from the new courthouse through the square ending at the old courthouse parking lot.

Judges, county honor IT team

All three Superior Court judges from the Mountain Circuit were gathered at the beginning of Monday’s county commission meeting, noting that something special was in the air.

Farmhouse Coffee coming to Demorest

Stephen Martin and his wife Marilyn didn’t plan on celebrating two grand openings this summer, but it looks like they will be. As for Lawrence Bridges, this was all part of his plan.

Mud Creek Grocery torn down

A century of history was lost this week when the old Mud Creek Grocery store was torn down. Judy Erwin, whose family ran the store for decades, was offered the store building as a keepsake.

Hall named MADD Officer of the Year

Raiders set for spring test in Hartwell

Habersham Central’s football team will load the buses Friday for its first road trip of 2023. The Raiders are set to take on a familiar foe in Hart County as the Bulldogs play host to this year’s spring game.

Corbett carves out her own beach access

Growing up in the Corbett household came with just a few expectations. Among them were the basics – hard work, integrity and respect. Being a family of athletes, having reverence for those in authority and coaching positions was also a given.
