Costumed children looking for treats will have plenty of options to celebrate Halloween in Habersham County. The town of Mt. Airy and Mt. Airy Baptist Church will host a Trunk or Treat 5-7 p.m. Saturday at city hall, 1231 Dicks Hill Pkwy. For details, call 706-778-6990.

Hospital continues heavy financial losses

Habersham Medical Center continues to trail behind its budget plans, as the facility lost more than $700,000 in September to add to its growing deficit. HMC showed a revenue-to-expense loss of $742,962 for the month of September, bringing the total deficit for the year to more than $1.9 million.

Fire trucks, law enforcement vehicles and emergency medical vehicles will fill the Cornelia Train Depot Saturday, Oct. 29, in an effort to celebrate local heroes. The Fire on the Mountain Emergency Response Parade and Festival will start at 11 a.m.
