Piedmont celebrates summer graduates

Judge Brian Rickman had a simple message for Piedmont University graduates on Friday morning – fulfill your ultimate potential. Rickman was the keynote speaker for the event, and he delivered his message to the new graduates in the same chapel in which he graduated in 1998.

Bible time for kids: Neighborhood Bible Time will be held at Camp Creek Baptist Church in Cornelia July 24-29 from 6:30-9 p.m. Registration is at 6 p.m. and is for kindergarten through teens. A meal will be served for the children each evening. Come and have a wonderful time.

Community turns out to honor Snyder’s work at Cornelia Depot

Members of the community turned out by the dozens to both admire Cornelia’s historic train depot and show their appreciation for Buck Snyder, the man credited with its preservation and restoration for more than 30 years.

Mindful floating mandalas

A workshop to create “Floating Mandalas” will be held Sunday, Aug. 21, from 4-6 p.m. at the Sautee-Nacoochee Center. “Mandala” is an ancient sanskrit word meaning “circle” and is a symbol used by many cultures to represent the interconnected aspects of the universe.

Tallulah Falls puts up roadblock on SPLOST

Just when Habersham County thought it was time to move on from the struggle to balance the budget, another controversy reared its head. County leaders have been gathering signatures to an intergovernmental agreement (IGA) to move forward with a referendum on a Roads & Bridges SPLOST in November.

Heroes walk among us

Josh Brady grew up loving super heroes, and one day he saw a picture on Facebook of people dressed as heroes carrying the casket of a young child. “That stuck with me for a while, and I decided to contact the guy and find out what he does,” Brady said.
