United Way kicks off year Saturday

The United Way is hosting a kickoff event Saturday in Cornelia to let folks know what they are all about. The fun runs from noon to 9 p.m. downtown and includes all kinds of fun, starting with an axe throwing competition, for which the $30 entry fee goes to United Way.

Cornelia denies liquor store request

City of Cornelia rejected a request by local business owner Chee Wong’s conditional use application to establish a liquor store, which would’ve gone in by a former Waffle House that’s now a vape shop.

Habersham Medical Center (HMC) launched the first phase of a plan to bring greater access to resources and knowledge to overlooked segments within the county Saturday morning, as volunteers distributed bookbags containing supplies donated by HMC staff members to around 50-60 families in Baldwin.

Tallulah Falls signs SPLOST agreement

Tallulah Falls Town Council signed onto the Roads & Bridges SPLOST agreement with Habersham County on Thursday, paving the way for the county and its municipalities to pursue a full penny for the potential sales tax addition on November’s ballot.
