Clock ticking for hospital employees

Members of the Habersham Medical Center (HMC) Hospital Authority met Tuesday at the hospital, where healthcare officials discussed the impending Jan. 4 mandate deadline requiring all hospital employees be fully vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus or face termination.

Shopping with the cops

The City of Baldwin’s Fire and Police Departments spent Wednesday morning at Walmart in Cornelia, where they took more than 20 local children shopping for everything from clothes to toys.

Election presses on at holidays

Amid all the turkey trimmings and Christmas shopping, Habersham County still has a commissioner to pick on Nov. 30. Early voting began Wednesday for the District 5 county commission runoff between Ty Akins and Jason E. Hogan. The Nov. 2 election only yielded 9.

The Habersham Ninth Grade Academy (HNGA) has taken proactive measures intended to support and ensure the success of students afflicted by instructional loss and hindered academic progress that has occurred nationwide amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Prayers go worldwide for injured Cornelia man

More than two weeks after a near-fatal car crash, Sam Ferguson started fully breathing on his own again. Ferguson, 23, of Cornelia was involved in a crash in Lumpkin County on Oct. 30 that put him into a coma, where he has been ever since.

Borrow earns community service award from Leadership Georgia

Cornelia Mayor John Borrow was recognized by Leadership Georgia last week as a shining example of taking their principles and putting them to work in his community. Borrow was the recipient of the E. Dale Threadgill Community Service Award at the Leadership Georgia annual gala in Savannah on Nov.

Habersham Home renovation breaks ground on $6.1M project

‘We are the beagles’

Tina Free of Clarkesville sees the livelihood of her own family and friends threatened by COVID-19 vaccine mandates, and she has seen enough. Free helped gather those friends and other like-minded individuals for a series of protests this week around Habersham County.
