After 40 years in public safety, Chad Black is ready to hang up his boots. Habersham County’s Emergency Services Director informed county management Monday that he intends to retire on Feb. 14, 2022.

‘A good and kind man’

Steven Ward’s legacy of love and friendship lives on far beyond his four years as a Clarkesville City Councilman. Ward died unexpectedly Saturday at Habersham Medical Center after a heart attack, according to Habersham County Coroner Kasey McEntire.

Fatal crash on Old Cleveland Road

   A high-speed crash on Old Cleveland Road killed the driver and left first responders searching for any other possible victims, though no one else was found.
