Vaughn making impression in race for manager’s job

Interim County Manager Alicia Vaughn has been on the job since July, and she has given herself plenty to talk about in her next interview for the permanent position. Vaughn has impressed local leaders and made a name for herself as the temporary replacement for the retired Phil Sutton.

Former state reps: LOST not going anywhere

Officials in multiple cities in Habersham County have spoken out about the financial challenges posed by the Local Option Sales Tax (LOST) going to education here, one of just eight counties in Georgia where that is the case.

Panther Creek, a popular outdoor attraction for many in the Habersham community, will remain closed until funding is approved by Congress, according to Barb Rainey with the U.S. Forest Service.

Habersham Central’s homecoming court will be presented Friday night at halftime of the football game between the Raiders and Winder-Barrow. The winner along with the king will be announced at the end of the halftime ceremony.

Locals flooded into Sam Pitts Park in Clarkesville Saturday in what became a mass turnout in support for those who battle drug addiction.
