   Habersham County Sheriff’s Office deputies conducted a high-speed chase through Cornelia late Sunday night that ended with the suspects crashing into a tree.

   Three pairs of moms and daughters let their creative juices flow onto glass heart suncatchers during a recent evening at Splashe PYOP (Paint-Your-Own Pottery) Art Studio. It wasn’t their first time there, but the group agreed they didn’t visit often enough.

   Beth Allen loved animals, and she made it her business to make sure they were taken care of.    Allen, 67, of Turnerville died Feb. 3 after 37 years of working for Habersham County, but she was perhaps better known for her dedication to pets in the area.

COVID-19 positive cases dropping in Habersham County

   Cases of COVID-19 in Habersham County have dropped to their lowest levels since Nov. 15, according to data from the Georgia Department of Public Health.    On Monday, the seven-day moving average for positive cases per day dropped to 11.

   Councilman Jim Welborn stared out at the assembled citizens, not sure what to do.    Welborn was being asked for his vote on a motion to delay the purchase of a fire truck for at least six months. But despite coaxing on from various folks in the crowd, he could not bring himself to vote.
