Art studio offers chance to unwind in age of COVID-19

   Three pairs of moms and daughters let their creative juices flow onto glass heart suncatchers during a recent evening at Splashe PYOP (Paint-Your-Own Pottery) Art Studio. It wasn’t their first time there, but the group agreed they didn’t visit often enough.

   Beth Allen loved animals, and she made it her business to make sure they were taken care of.    Allen, 67, of Turnerville died Feb. 3 after 37 years of working for Habersham County, but she was perhaps better known for her dedication to pets in the area.

COVID-19 positive cases dropping in Habersham County

   Cases of COVID-19 in Habersham County have dropped to their lowest levels since Nov. 15, according to data from the Georgia Department of Public Health.    On Monday, the seven-day moving average for positive cases per day dropped to 11.

Demorest balks at buying fire truck, delays for at least 6 months

Cornelia signs on for new hotel project

   Following the county’s approval of a 15-year tax abatement to help bring a new hotel to Habersham, on Tuesday, the Cornelia City Commission officially passed a vote in favor of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for Project Stay.
