Resident seeks paths to COVID-19 vaccines

   Habersham County has seen nearly 700 people vaccinated against COVID-19 since the doses first arrived here on Dec. 23.    That number includes 300 at Habersham Medical Center and 378 through the Habersham County Health Department as of Thursday morning.

Habersham County stalwarts retire after 55 combined years

   The Habersham County Public Works Department recently sent off two of its most instrumental members, as Wesley Wade and Gary Crocker both retired from the department on Jan. 4.

   About 18 years ago, Todd Lincks sat at his best friend’s tire shop and watched as he paid “a whole lot of money” to get rid of a semi-truck full of used tires.

   The Tallulah Falls Railroad X5 Caboose sits quietly in Cornelia, but its history contains dozens of stories worth telling.    Within the past decade, it has been restored at least once.

The festival was canceled in 2020 because of COVID-19, but organizers are hopeful the event will be able to happen in 2021.

Organizers hope to see fun events return to Habersham County in 2021

   Over the past year, many events in Habersham County have been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now as the new year unfolds, local leaders are cautiously hopeful that these events will be able to proceed in some capacity in 2021.

Mealor tapped as county chairman, board hears concerns about Chase Road development

   Dustin Mealor took his place as chairman of the Habersham County Board of Commissioners Monday night after being the only commissioner nominated for the job.    Mealor was elected chairman by a 4-1 vote, with Commissioner Jimmy Tench opposed.
