   On Thursday morning, 15 children and several firefighters and police officers with the city of Baldwin participated in the annual Shop With a Hero. This year, each child had a $300 limit to spend on toys, clothes or anything else they wanted.

Overdose leads to drug arrests in Mt. Airy

   Two locals living in a tent behind a Mt. Airy residence were arrested Dec. 4 on charges they allegedly had intent to distribute methamphetamine and heroin.

Christmas fun in three cities this weekend

   In Cornelia, families will be able to attend Christmas in the Park at Cornelia Community House from Thursday through Saturday. Hours vary, but there will be hayrides, holiday market, snow play, photos with Santa and more.

Suspect from July 4 shooting indicted by grand jury

   Jerry Nathaniel Wall, 53, was indicted Nov. 18 in the Superior Court of Habersham County for the alleged murder of his neighbor, 56-year-old Roger Dale Littleton, on the Fourth of July.    He is facing a formal arraignment on Jan.

Crashes keep coming year round on 365

   Even with the high numbers of motor vehicle accidents on state Route 365 in Habersham County, there has only been one death reported for the year 2019.    According to Habersham County E-911 Director Lynn Smith, there were 277 total accidents on SR 365.

Veteran, 90, serves still by standing up for fellow soldiers

   For Donald Tench, 38 years of service to his country was not enough.     The 90-year-old Demorest resident lost many comrades during his life of service, and he has continued to pay one final tribute to them.
