Tallulah Falls baseball team reaches state finals

   Tallulah Falls' baseball team continued its magical run Friday, sweeping King's River Christian 8-7 and 8-3 to reach the 1A state championship.

‘Lost art’ of clogging lives on

   Delaney Shirah dabbled in ballet and tap dance classes when she was a kid, but they were too slow-paced. She started softball, but then got bored with it. That’s when she found clogging, a percussive style of folk dance that Shirah has stuck with for 10 years.

Clarkesville taps Clouatre as police chief

   Clarkesville is happy with its police department, and if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, as folks often say.    The city honored outgoing chief Brad Barrett for his 22 years of service and named his longtime assistant Danny Clouatre as the department’s new leader.

Clarkesville OKs courthouse deal

   Clarkesville City Council agreed to sign on to the plans to redevelop the old courthouse in their downtown area with one caveat that will likely be moot.

Indians catch lightning in a bottle

   BJ Carver drove in the go-ahead run in the 7th inning to help Tallulah Falls knock off Swainsboro 7-6 to earn a spot in the 1A state Final Four on Tuesday afternoon.    It was the end of a three-day roller-coaster as the teams battled weather delays as well as each other.

Benfield makes big splash with pro bass fishing win

   Demorest native Brad Benfield has been fishing competitively since 1994. But he’s never had a 3-day stretch like the one he had in early April.

TFS track & field team shines at sectional meet

   The week’s forecast did not look promising but the rain held off at Wolfpack Stadium on the Whitefield Academy campus all day Saturday so that the A-D1 Section B track & field meet could continue as scheduled, except for the 90 minute delay because of multiple protests by the 27 schools...

   Minutes before Baldwin City Council was set to hold a hearing on Wednesday for Alto Mountain Grocery’s citation of furnishing alcohol to a minor, the store settled with the city’s legal counsel outside of the courtroom.

Tallulah Falls baseball sweeps way into Final Four

   Tallulah Falls' baseball team took Game 1 of a three-game state quarterfinal series 5-0 Saturday over Swainsboro to move within one win of the 1A Final Four.    The Indians completed that journey after storm delays Monday pushed Game 2 into Tuesday.

‘We looked after each other’

   Jimmy Yon is far too humble to ask for recognition, but those he has served with made sure he got just a little.    Yon was honored by Habersham County Emergency Services in April for his more than 50 years of fire service in various departments across the county.
