Baldwin makes headway with water projects

The City of Baldwin is making plenty of progress on improvements to its water-sewer infrastructure. Fletcher Holliday of Engineering Management Inc. (EMI) presented an update on several projects Monday night to the Baldwin City Council.

Hudson looks to lift students, staff as Cornelia’s new principal

Cornelia Elementary held a team-building exercise with its staff before the school year started. It was the idea of Assistant Principal Carrie Trotter, who wanted the staff to bond with the school’s new principal, Dr. Darlene Hudson.

Ward honored for decade leading Bethlehem Baptist

Bethlehem Baptist Church celebrated a momentous occasion Sunday by recognizing Pastor Dr. Craig Ward for his exceptional leadership and dedicated service as their pastor for the past 10 years.

Stephens comes to town in 48 hours

Habersham Central’s football team is in final preparation mode for a game that’s been jumping off the calendar all summer. Raiders coach Benji Harrison spoke on what his team is focused on most ahead of Friday’s showdown with rival Stephens County.

Public meetings

The following public meetings are scheduled from Aug. 11-18. Baldwin City Council 6:30 p.m. regular meeting Monday, Aug. 14, at 155 Willingham Avenue. Hospital Authority of Habersham County 6:30 p.m. monthly meeting Tuesday, Aug. 15, in the Authority Boardroom at Habersham Medical Center.

School system looks to the future

Mrs. Denise Rogers’ first grade class waited somewhat patiently, somewhat anxiously Wednesday afternoon for the construction workers at Clarkesville Elementary to build them a pathway to their playground.

‘Best school system?’ Data says Habersham

Superintendent Matthew Cooper loves nothing more than heaping praise on his principals, teachers and staff for the work they do for Habersham County Schools. On Tuesday, he boiled all that praise into one simple question – “Are we the best school system in Northeast Georgia?
