Indians sweep season series from BASA

Tallulah Falls’ baseball team completed a three-game series sweep of Barrow Arts & Sciences Academy with a  Friday double header sweep on the road. TFS took game one 11-1 In the opener, Tallulah Falls scored 4 runs in both the sixth and seventh to put the game out of  reach.

The 13th year of the “Tour of Honor” began this week, and it will bring many visitors to Habersham County over the next six months.

Youth honored for healthy, safe choices

Fifth grader Bella Hernandez of Fairview Elementary School was chosen as the Student of the Year after completion of the 12 week Choosing Healthy Activities and Methods Promoting Safety (C.H.A.M.P.S.) educational program for Georgia’s youth. The C.H.A.M.P.S.

Scout completes special project

When he isn’t reading a classic novel, 10th grader Jaron Horton can be found participating in all things relating to the Eagle Scout experience. Recently, Horton completed his Eagle Scout project, installing a handicapped two bay JennSwing with a wheelchair platform in the Town of Mt. Airy Park.

Mountain Education Charter High School is looking to the future after Georgia’s legislature passed a bill at the end of the session to preserve charter schools in the state.

Demorest names finalists in manager odyssey

Demorest continued its search for a permanent city manager Wednesday night with a nearly two-hour executive session to discuss the latest pool of applicants, while their interim city manager sat in the other room conversing with citizens and staff.

Leaders make school safety top priority

Everyone involved with school leadership across the nation cringes every time there is a shooting incident somewhere, and they know that something like that can happen anywhere in today’s climate.

Revival coming There will be a revival at Amy’s Creek Baptist Church in Clarkesville from April 2-6. Rev. Keith Allison and Rev. Milton Harris will be preaching. Service time is 7 p.m. each night. Everyone is welcome.
