‘Golden Jubilee’ set for Saturday

The Habersham County Historical Society is excited to celebrate the society’s Golden Jubilee on Saturday, March 11. With activities spanning from a showcase of historical artifacts to various performances throughout the day, the event planners hope to showcase the county’s rich heritage.

Clarkesville stands firm on apartment request

Much like the February meeting, a hot topic at Clarkesville City Council’s meeting Monday was the issue of housing in the city. The Bowersox Investment Group, after getting approval to build the Ellison Park apartments in January, requested a variance in the amount of apartments from 68 to 84.

Former Habersham educator Mulligan retiring after 30 years

Dr. Octavious Mulligan, a former assistant principal at multiple Habersham County Schools, is retiring from a long career in education. Mulligan is finishing up his career this school year as the principal at Tesnatee Gap Elementary School in White County.

Cause of Alto man’s death still a mystery

Authorities are still unsure what caused the death of a 26-year-old Baldwin man found dead on Saturday. Habersham County Sheriff’s deputies and Baldwin Police responded to a medical call at 453 Highland Pointe Drive in Alto. The call was dispatched as an unresponsive person.
