Raiders grapple to three titles, earn 3rd in Stephens tourney

   Habersham Central was third among nine teams with six placers, 20 wins and 15 pinfalls to show for the Arrowhead Classic at Stephens County High School on Saturday.    "We placed third overall while giving up four weight classes,” Raiders coach Morris Brooks said.

   • This is the final article in a five-part series.    The City of Baldwin and the City of Demorest have signed the agreement stating that Demorest will continue to pay Baldwin for water.

Locals celebrate veterans with Wreaths Across America

   Two ceremonies were held Saturday to honor local military veterans at the holidays as part of the Wreaths Across America program.    Both the VFW Memorial Park and Old Clarkesville Cemetery were decorated with wreaths after a long fundraising period to make it happen here for the first time.

Barrs retires after 48 years with Habersham County

   After spending almost a half-century serving Habersham County, David Barrs is setting his sights on retirement.    With 48 years of experience under his belt, Barrs, a Habersham County native, is looking at retirement as a place for adventure and new beginnings by traveling west with his wife.

County rescues Habersham Medical Center at 11th hour

Animal shelter invests in giving season

Habersham County Animal Shelter (HCAS) hosted a free clinic for residents of the county on Dec. 10. Planned PEThood of Duluth, Ga. hosted the event with HCAS to help bring vaccinations, microchips and pet food to pet parents who are in need of assistance.

Terrell eyes new career after 2024

Mt. Airy names sole finalist for police chief

The Town of Mt. Airy recently hired their new police chief Jamie Bowden. Bowden is following on the footsteps of Tim Jarrell who recently left the department to join the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office as an investigator.
