Judge Butterworth honored with portrait in courthouse

The late Judge Jim Butterworth was honored Friday with a portrait that will be displayed in the Habersham County magistrate courtroom to honor his years of service. Practically the entire Habersham County legal community was on hand to celebrate along with Butterworth’s family.

Late-Night Breakfast is a longstanding tradition at Piedmont University. Each year, near the end of the fall semester, faculty and staff members volunteer to serve a late-night breakfast to students.

Florida fugitive stopped with drugs, stolen gun

Two Florida men were stopped by Georgia State Patrol the night before Thanksgiving and allegedly found with drugs and a stolen pistol. Just after 9:30 p.m. on Nov. 23, Trooper Austin Gregg observed a Ford Edge speeding on Highway 441 near Victory Home Lane in Tallulah Falls.

County businesses give to those in need

Christmas is a few weeks away, but plenty of folks in Habersham County were well into the spirit of giving early this year. The Jack Bradley Agency partnered with the Family Resource Center for a sock and coat drive this week to help those in need at this holiday season.
