After they have honored so many servicemen and women, it was time for the Grant-Reeves Veterans Honor Guard to get some kudos of their own.

Habersham nurse earns DAISY Award

They had to trick her to keep it a surprise, but it was worth it. Habersham Medical Center nurse Marlana Kennedy walked into the board room at the hospital Tuesday morning to find many of her friends and colleagues waiting to present her with the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses.

Last week marked the 30-year anniversary of Habersham County’s E-911 system, which received more than 400,000 calls last year.

Pilgrim Ministries defends itself in wrongful death suit

Attorneys for Pilgrim Ministries have submitted an answer in Habersham County Superior Court to plaintiff Tina G. Lindsey, who filed a wrongful death lawsuit after her son Patrick Drew Lindsey died by suicide while in the custody and care of the Clarkesville-based non-profit in early April.

Lady Raider teams in key regional clashes

   Habersham Central's softball team was rained out Tuesday and will host Shiloh for a region doubleheader at 4:30 and 6 p.m. Wednesday.    The Lady Raider volleyball team beat Shiloh 25-6, 25-6 and fell to Lanier 25-27, 17-25 in regional matches on the road Tuesday night against Lanier and Shiloh.

Revelations have emerged from an onslaught of federal court documents filed in early August in the Wainberg v. Piedmont University case, naming President James Mellichamp as party to more alleged misconduct.
