Cornelia parking lot shooter gets misdemeanor

The woman responsible for the gunfire at an incident in Cornelia on Sept. 3 was arrested on a misdemeanor charge after investigation by Cornelia Police.

Rotary kicks off program for Fairview students

An anonymous donation from The Habersham Rotary Club helped kick off a new service project that has put over 60 students at Fairview Elementary School in a brand new pair of shoes.

Youth coordinator works toward diversity, inclusion

New to Habersham County, Cristina Irizarry is excited to join the Cornelia Habersham County Library as their Youth Services Coordinator and help curate a space for all community members to feel welcomed and wanted. “Libraries should be for everybody, not just for a select group,” Irizarry said.

Mt. Airy Town Manager and Police Chief Tim Jarrell will be scaling back his responsibilities with the town and will resign as town manager on Oct. 10. Jarrell is “on call 24 hours a day for the police, water and street departments,” as he said in a letter to the Town Council on Monday night.

Lady Raiders travel for major region showdowns

   Habersham Central's softball and volleyball teams had big games on the road Tuesday night.    The Lady Raider volleyball team had a huge night with two key regional wins over Gainesville (25-21, 15-25, 15-11) and Apalachee (25-13, 25-14).
