First-ever Hispanic Festival forms bridge toward inclusion

As part of the celebrations leading into the 50th Anniversary of The Habersham County Historical Society, the society is proud to host the first-ever Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration in Cornelia during the traditional Big Red Apple Festival. The first-of-its-kind festival will be held on Sat.

Baldwin: Tax hike in city’s best interest

Baldwin City Council voted at its regular meeting Monday to raise the millage rate by 37 percent, and the city’s leaders sought to reassure residents the increase was intended to resolve financial issues prolonged by mistakes made by elected officials in the past.

‘Train Town’ documentary pulling into the station

After a successful premiere in July, “Cornelia: A Train Town” will have two additional showings in the upcoming weeks, giving the community more chances to learn about the history of how the city came to be.

Piedmont recruiter connects with Hispanic students

   As Gabriel Gutierrez travels across state lines speaking with Hispanic high school students about the possibility of attending college, he hopes his story is able to resonate with them and help continue to increase diversity at Piedmont University.

‘Mirror Madness’ comes to Clarkesville

A team of ambitious young filmmakers and actors are bringing their best movie work to downtown Clarkesville next week. A cast of locally well-known actors star in “Mirror Madness,” a short film by Demorest filmmaker and photographer Carson Sprinkle.

Lady Raiders battle as season heats up

   Habersham Central's softball team hosted a key game in region play Thursday against Apalachee, falling 11-0 to the first place team.    The Lady Raider volleyball team (14-9) went on the road for a non-region tri-match.
