Tyler Harper, Georgia State Senator for District 7 and Republican nominee for state agriculture commissioner, recently came to Rabun County and visited Osage Farms to talk about the importance of farming and discussed the struggles of farmers today.

Espalin to perform Saturday in Sautee

Wyatt Espalin will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 16, on the outdoor stage and lawn as part of the Sautee Summer Music Fest. With the Ocoee River in East Tennessee as the backdrop, and North Georgia on the horizon, Wyatt Espalin’s debut album, The Pardon (2013), was born.

North Ga. Tech graduates first Learning to Lead Academy

North Georgia Technical College recently held a graduation ceremony celebrating the inaugural class of the Learning to Lead (L2L) Academy, led by NGTC Deans of Academic Affairs Christy Bivins, Michelle Likins and Michelle Oglesby.

'I've seen the impact'

The Women Build takes place every year and is only growing, helping encourage women to get out and learn a new skill set in an industry dominated by men.  Habitat for Humanity of Northeast Georgia's Women Build will take place July 16-23 from 8 a.m. to noon.

Running out of space

The Habersham Animal Shelter is running dangerously low on space for cats and dogs. There are a lot of animals up for adoption, but there's a severe backlog on spaying and neutering cats right now, so getting them out to homes is taking a pause.

Proposed glamping site scrapped amid controversy

A potential developer with a record of financial crimes has failed in the venture of bringing the trend of glamor camping to Habersham County.
