Longtime Mason honored

On Monday evening, WB Larry Lynn, District Deputy to the Grand Master, presented WB Douglas “Pete” Raper with a Certificate of Achievement for 62.8 years as a Mason in Cornelia Masonic Lodge #92, F&AM. It came as a surprise to W. Brother Raper, and the Lodge gave him a round of applause.

Piedmont art exhibit features contemporary

Piedmont University’s Mason-Scharfenstein Museum of Art will display an exhibition of contemporary art from the permanent collection through Aug. 18. The museum, 567 Georgia Street in Demorest, is open from 12 to 5 p.m., Tuesday-Saturday. A closing reception will take place from 5-7 p.m. on Aug.

Bryson brings sweet sounds back to Demorest

Playing alongside Gregg Erwin at Demorest’s Glorious Fourth celebration will be fellow North Georgia native, Steve Bryson. Bryson, who was born and raised in Cleveland, considers his music to be a “mix of southern rock, country, and blues.

Four more crashes on Highway 365

As is typical this time of year, the crashes on Highway 365 (also known as U.S. 441 North/Georgia Highway 15) are picking up. There were four major wrecks in a five-day span this week. On Sunday morning, two cars were totaled when they collided near Crane Mill Road.
