Fabulous Glorious Fourth

The fun was coming from everywhere, decked out in red, white and blue on Monday in Demorest, where the Glorious Fourth was back in its element to celebrate the nation’s 246th birthday.

Inspiration blooms into a business

Removing thorns from a white rose, which she will meticulously place in a vase for a new arrangement, Marcia Hamil recalls always wanting her own business. After discovering a love for fresh florals, she now finds herself the owner of Refined Floral Co.

County taxes set to increase one mill

Habersham County residents have been getting their tax bills in the mail over recent weeks, but anyone dismayed with a potential increase has not even seen all of the news just yet. The county is proposing a one mill increase in the tax rate to 12.

Driver charged in fatal crash

Baldwin makes final cuts to 2022-23 budget

Baldwin City Council proceeded with formal adoption of a balanced 2023 budget at a special called meeting Friday by unanimous vote. The final approval comes after several months of discussion by council members seeking to slash a deficit of more than $500,000.

Clarkesville begins preparations for 200th anniversary next year

It’s time to make plans to commemorate 200 years since the establishment of the village of Clarkesville on Dec. 10, 1823. A committee is forming now to lead the yearlong celebration in 2023.

Sautee gains two Blue Star museums

The Sautee Nacoochee Community Association announced this week that the Folk Pottery Museum of Northeast Georgia and the Sautee Nacoochee Cultural Center are now Blue Star Museums.
