Habersham soccer sides shut out by Lanier

   Habersham Central’s Lady Raider and Raider soccer teams were shut out by Lanier Friday night, as both fell in close 1-0 contests.    The majority of the women’s game was a defensive struggle, and neither team was able to find the back of the net against the other’s defense.

Raider baseball splits two on Diamond Day

   In between dodging bad weather, the Habersham Central baseball team lucked out with a beautiful day Saturday for a special tripleheader event.    The Raiders split their two games, beating Gainesville 6-1 to start the day but falling late to Stephens County 3-2 to wrap it.

   Two historical markers at Roadside Park in Baldwin have been damaged, and another has been missing from Highway 115 in Clarkesville for nearly a year.

Habersham County's mass vaccination site opens smoothly

   As America approaches the one-year anniversary of the COVID-19 outbreak, 1,068 people were vaccinated against the virus in Habersham County on Monday.    The fairgrounds in Clarkesville is currently being used as one of four mass vaccination sites across the state.

Habersham Central names its top students for Class of 2021

   This year’s valedictorian and salutatorian did not start their scholastic lives in Habersham County, but they are both sure glad they finished it here.

Kindergarteners teach classmates, adults about Black History

   Melissa Sedwick’s kindergarten class learned a valuable lesson while doing projects over the last month. Among other things, they learned that Black history is American history.
