   Habersham Central's girls advanced in the state playoffs Tuesday night with a 52-45 win over Douglas County.    Taylor Wade led the Lady Raiders (19-5) with 19 points, while Addie Penick (11) and Nykerriah Brown (10) also were in double figures.

COVID-19 vaccinations go on despite winter delays

Nursing students are partly to thank for the thousands of COVID-19 vaccinations that have been administered so far in Habersham County and beyond.  According to Dave Palmer, District 2 Public Health Spokesman, the Habersham County Health Department has administered 2,979 vaccines.

   Habersham County hopes to finally be ready to build a new set of hangars at the airport.    Discussions have been ongoing for years about expanding the hangar space at Habersham County Airport.

   When the final horn sounded at Athens Academy Wednesday night, celebrating commenced for the Tallulah Falls boys basketball team, as they took down George Walton Academy (GWA) 64-47 to win their first region championship in program history.

   A night after needing late-game heroics from Malachi Dooley to get past Central Gwinnett for the second time in less than a week on Tuesday, Habersham Central’s season ended Wednesday night in a 46-41 loss to Buford.

Tallulah Falls girls fall in region final

   In a sold-out Sinkwich Spartan Center, Tallulah Falls couldn’t overcome tournament host Athens Academy in the Region 8A private championship, as they fell 45-35 Tuesday night.     “They came out hot and ready to play,” Indians head coach Brandy Corbett said.

Habersham County lands mass vaccination site

   Georgia’s next big step to vaccinate its residents against COVID-19 will take place at four mass inoculation sites across the state, including one in Clarkesville at the Habersham County Fairgrounds.    The site is expected to open Monday, Feb.
