'Overreach' killed Baldwin's updated charter

   Despite its council approving a resolution for a new city charter at its Jan. 13 meeting, the city’s new charter has yet to be approved by state’s legislature due to an “inadvertent overstep” by Mayor Joe Elam.    “I didn’t intentionally [have it removed],” Elam said.

   Habersham Central’s softball team beat Shiloh 10-1 Thursday night to end a four-game losing slide.    On Tuesday, the Lady Raiders dropped their fourth game in a row Tuesday night, falling 12-4 to Lanier.

   Over the past few months, the Habersham County Development Authority has taken several different steps to upgrade the county’s industrial park. Already the authority has approved a rebrand of the park, changing its official name to Airport Business Park.

Young cancer survivor honored with Hometown Hero Award

   The SagerStrong Foundation named Tallulah Falls School senior Kale Corbett of Lakemont as its second annual Hometown Hero Award Winner during National Blood Cancer Awareness Month according to a press release.

U.S. Forest Service Habersham County responders against historic wildfires

   As the wildfires continue to consume many areas in the west coast, U.S. Forest Service personnel from all over are traveling to help provide resources and support.     The U.S.
