Habersham County task force looks to protect local children

   Habersham County’s Special Victims Unit Patrol Task Force has been in operation for eight months, and investigators for the sheriff’s office are doing all they can to protect the children of the county.    Local authorities charged two individuals in child abuse cases this week.

   Tallulah Falls School President and Head of School Larry Peevy has been named a Legacy Leader by Georgia Trend magazine. He was featured in the 35th anniversary edition as the recognition highlights 15 people who have dedicated themselves to improving lives across the state.

   Habersham County Hospital Authority Chairman Victor Anderson announced his intent to leave with the November general election approaching soon during the board meeting Tuesday.     Anderson, a republican candidate, is running against Democrat Nick Mitchell in the Nov.

Habersham County, city of Baldwin reach tentative agreement on annexation

   The Habersham County Board of Commissioners and the city of Baldwin avoided an arbitration hearing Thursday when they reached tentative agreement about an annexation that likely will lead to hundreds of new homes in a new development on a 145-acre tract along Wilbanks and Thompson Roads.
