Baldwin police chief, councilman resign suddenly

   Baldwin Police Chief William Anastasio and Councilman Jeff Parrish both resigned from their positions with the city of Baldwin at Monday night’s city council meeting.     The council reviewed and accepted Anastasio’s letter of resignation during the meeting’s executive session.

OSBORNE: Raiders defense impresses hard-hitting greats of old

   Things felt normal for the first time in a while on Friday night.    The lights were on, the motivational rap music was blaring, Sweet Caroline was being overplayed, trash cans were being pounded … you knew high school football was back.

Raiders aim for an encore against Apalachee

   Habersham Central’s football team had a great opening night, and now it’s time to see if that show will draw rave reviews when they take it on the road.    The Raiders take on Apalachee at 7:30 p.m. tonight in what used to be a regional game, but now is a non-league showdown.

Tallulah Falls girls riding five-game streak heading into area play

   After a rocky start to the 2020 season, the Tallulah Falls volleyball team appears to have found its stride midway through the season.     Heading into Region 8-A play the Lady Indians (7-10) boast a five-game win streak after sweeping Rabun and Franklin counties Tuesday night.

   A severely decomposed body was found Thursday afternoon in Clarkesville near the Georgia 197 bridge, the area being searched recently by authorities and family members looking for missing local man Shane Justice.    There is no way to identify the body, Lt.

Tallulah Falls runners claim top-5 finishes in home meet

   The Tallulah Falls School hosted eight other teams at its annual Cookies ‘n Quotes Cross Country Festival, and both the boys’ and girls’ teams earned top-five finishes at the event.     On the boys’ side, the Indians placed two runners inside the top-five and took fourth place as a team.

Alto receives grant for generators
