Lady Raiders volleyball earns two region victories

   Habersham Central’s volleyball team grabbed two more region victories over Central Gwinnett and Dacula on Tuesday night.    In HCHS’ first match, the Lady Raider played Dacula evenly before hopping out to a 15-12 lead midway through the first set.

Tallulah Falls volleyball sweeps on pink-out night

   In their annual Pink-Out matches, the Tallulah Falls volleyball team rocked bright pink jerseys en route to picking up two critical region victories over Athens Christian and George Walton Tuesday night.

Raiders' offense runs wild on the way to road win, 2-0 start

   Facing a fourth-and-1 at his own 20 yard line and sensing that offense was going to be the theme of the night, Habersham Central quarterback Josh Pickett made a plea to coach Benji Harrison.

Lady Raiders volleyball picks up four more wins

   The Habersham Central volleyball team picked up two non-region victories last Thursday over Madison and Oconee counties.    In the first match with Madison County, the Lady Raiders earned a sweep, taking the first set 25-8 and the second 25-11.

Lady Raiders win a wild one, 17-16, during busy week

   Big innings were the theme of Habersham Central’s region matchup against Winder-Barrow Thursday night. In the Lady Raiders’ 17-16 victory, HCHS posted three innings where they scored more than three runs, while the Bulldoggs had two.

Tallulah Falls volleyball win streak stops at 6, but team on the rise

   Tallulah Falls’ six-match win streak was snapped last Thursday in a three-set thriller against Class A/AA No. 7 Athens Academy.     TFS’ second match of the night started slowly, as they fell behind the Spartans early in the first set and eventually dropped it 25-15.

Georgia near lowest in Census completion

   Georgia continues at nearly the bottom ranking for U.S. Census completion and officials at all levels continue to urge residents to complete their 2020 Census which is Constitutionally mandated.     As of Sept. 13, Georgia’s total enumerated response was 84.

Superintendent addresses Black Lives Matter controversy at school

   Community leader Portia Burns spoke passionately Monday night at the Habersham County Board of Education meeting about respect for Black lives in the wake of a controversy at the Ninth Grade Academy, where a teacher was asked to take down a BLM sticker from a file cabinet.
