First day of school pushed back to Sept. 8

   The Habersham County Board of Education voted unanimously Monday night to move the start of school to Tuesday, Sept. 8, the day after Labor Day, to give teachers and administrators more time to meet the challenges of in-person learning during the COVID-19 pandemic.

   The Demorest City Council held a discussion Tuesday night exploring the results of potentially enforcing on-street parking regulations if implemented.
