UNITED WAY HOSTS CAMPAIGN KICKOFF

Habersham County United Way (HCUW) hosted its annual campaign kickoff Saturday at the Cornelia train depot and splash park. This marks the beginning of HCUW’s efforts in raising funds for its 23 partner agencies.

Community remembers local teen

A Habersham County teenager who was declared dead last week following a car accident is being hailed a hero after her organs were donated to people in need. Katie Danielle Richins, 19, of Cornelia, died Friday, Aug. 23, following injuries she sustained in the Stephens County crash.

Children, supervised by their parents/guardians, enjoyed cooling off from hot weather Saturday, Aug. 17, at the Cornelia Splash Pad. Also on site was the Kona Ice truck, proceeds from which went to the city of Cornelia’s facade grant program.

Georgia’s officials accept $106.8M contract for new voting machines

The Georgia Secretary of State’s Office (SOS) has selected Dominion Voting Systems Inc. to replace the state’s 17-year-old electronic voting machines with a fixed contract amount of $106,842,590.80, according to the notice of intent to award.
