Angel Navarrete, owner and barber at Blades and Fades, saw a need in the community not too long after graduating from Habersham Central in 2015: A barbershop for those of all ages and backgrounds, so he made it happen.

TFS seniors elect Prom king, queen

During the 2022 Tallulah Falls School Prom held March 26, the names of two one-night-only monarchs were announced. Dean of Students Jimmy Franklin revealed the names of Joel Miller of The Bahamas as Prom King and Evette Corwin of  Mt. Airy as Prom Queen.

Town hall reveals starling numbers about Habersham County landfill

Habersham County revealed some sobering news about its landfill at a sparsely-attended town hall Tuesday night that centered around public works. Habersham County Chairman Bruce Palmer said the county projected in August 2015 that the landfill would last neary 60 more years.

Demorest Elementary kindergartener Addi Masten collected the most money for the school’s Kids Heart Challenge. That means the gym will be named “Addi’s Gym” for one year until the next KHC. Demorest Elementary raised $24,253.60, up from around $20,000 last year. Addi raised $7,026.95.

Hospital seeks volunteers’ return with COVID declining

Habersham County Medical Center (HMC) is in need of more volunteers, according to Vice President of Culture and Wellness Kesha Clinkscale, who said the hospital has since launched a bold initiative to recruit a greater number of volunteers.

Teens arrested for car burglary spree

Two teenagers who were caught ransacking cars in two Mud Creek neighborhoods were arrested Monday. Habersham County Sheriff’s PIO Kevin Angell said there were six different cars reportedly broken into, with reports still coming in from surrounding neighbors.
