Love for Literacy Raffle under way

There’s a new raffle opportunity in town and it could put $5,000 in your bank account. Volunteers for Literacy (VFL) kicked off the first annual Love for Literacy $5,000 Raffle in November and will hold the drawing to determine the winner on Feb. 14.

COVID testing site remains open

Habersham Medical Center’s COVID-19 testing site was up and running at the hospital last Thursday, open to provide tests to members of the community who believe they may have been exposed or experience symptoms associated with coronavirus.

Hatchett eyes busy session for Assembly

Schools put emphasis on mental health

Izzy freezes Habersham

Habersham County was one of the hardest-hit areas in the region as Winter Storm Izzy ravaged the area with 6-8 inches of snow, ice and high winds over the weekend, knocking out power for tens of thousands for multiple days in some cases.

Historical groups work to restore Chenocetah Tower

Volunteers with the organization HistoriCorps, a group dedicated to restoring historic structures and places throughout the nation, journeyed from states all across the U.S. to Habersham County this week, determined to restore portions of the Chenocetah Fire Tower in Cornelia.
