Cornelia approves alcohol sales, passes 2022 budget

The City of Cornelia Commission casted a unanimous vote to approve the retail sale of distilled spirits at a commission meeting Monday.

Fairview EarlyAct seeks to develop youth leaders

Fairview Elementary School held its first inaugural kickoff event in the launch of the new EarlyAct Club, a school and rotary-led effort to develop and build leadership characteristics in students – dozens of whom were presented certificates for their pledged commitment to the club and its cause.

Business park ‘stalemate’ comes to a head

Seven decades of joy

On Christmas Eve, Clinton and Pat Savage of Cornelia will celebrate another year together for the 70th time. Despite the ups and downs and curves of life, their marriage has prevailed for seven decades.

Santa Claus comes to town

Christmas was celebrated at the Habersham County Senior Center Thursday, with groups of dozens filling the place, exchanging casual banter and quality time together as a community. Also present, in a far corner by a Christmas tree, was Billy Boyd dressed to look like Santa Claus.

Troopers busy with DUI chases

Georgia State Troopers have had their hands full lately with DUI chases as the holiday season rolls on. On Dec. 12, Trooper Austin Greer picked up a Dodge pickup truck going 93 mph southbound on Highway 365 and attempted a traffic stop.
