Police arrest man after ‘crime spree’ rampage

   Law enforcement officers from across Habersham County scrambled their forces Monday night to keep up with a man on what one officer called a “crime spree.”    On Monday night, Cornelia Police responded to the first call originating from the taco stand at 215 South Main St.

   The race for the three available Habersham County Commission seats is filling up quickly as the filing period began Monday.    Districts 1 and 4 got new challengers in the form of Jeffrey Lunsford and Trent Davis, respectively.

   ATLANTA – Coronavirus has come to Georgia.    Gov. Brian Kemp and state health officials confirmed the first cases of coronavirus in Georgia late Monday night. Two people in Fulton County contracted the virus after one of them traveled to Italy.

   Saturday morning called for tiaras and bandanas at the Princess and Pirate Pancake Party at Longhorn Steakhouse, benefitting Habersham County 4-H. Program Assistant Renee Smagur said they raised $1,684, not including expenses, which she anticipates to be low.

   Six county school systems from Northeast Georgia came together Saturday at the Habersham County Fairgrounds in Clarkesville to determine which school bus drivers are the very best at what they do.
