Clarkesville pursues park cleanup

   The Clarkesville city council discussed cleaning some areas of the park after receiving damage from recent storms.     “The periphery of Pitts Park is a mess. The area along the river, we really can’t do that much,” said Mayor Barrie Aycock.

   Just three days after his 18th birthday, Jimmy Waters of Clarkesville got in a car accident that would forever change his life.     He was sitting in the back seat of his friend’s truck during that foggy night drive, when they drove off the road struck a tree.

Paramedics, firefighters to get 2.75% raise

   Habersham County’s Board of Commissioners approved a 2.75% raise for the county’s paramedics Monday and added new bonuses in an attempt to curb the trend of employees leaving for higher pay and other fields.    The raises will take effect March 1 and will be for paramedics and firefighters.
