For the first time in 20-plus years, the Habersham Central High School (HCHS) Raiders emerged victorious Friday night from an electric, nail-biting meeting with arch-rival, the Stephens County High School (SCHS) Indians.

A large wetland restoration project is taking place in the city of Clarkesville along the Soque River. This project will restore the wetland with many of the ecological functions it had centuries ago, according to Blueway Head Environmental Scientist Sean Miller.

Leak prompts advisory for all Clarkesville water customers

All Clarkesville water system customers were under a boil water advisory Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 17, after a major water leak was reported on Gabrels Drive.

Habersham County sets new graduation rate

Habersham County Schools and Habersham Success Academy (HSA) have much to celebrate, having recently heard they set new graduation rate records. The Georgia Department of Education released Wednesday the 2019 Graduation Rates for high schools and school systems across the state of Georgia.

1 man killed in rollover wreck

A single-vehicle rollover accident Thursday afternoon caused the death of one man at 855 Rockford Creek Road in Clarkesville, officials said. As of The Northeast Georgian’s press deadline Thursday, the identity of the male had not been released pending notification of family.
