VETERANS JAMBOREE WELCOMES COMMUNITY

The American Legion Post 84, Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Chapter 15 and Grant-Reeves Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 7720 and Auxiliary all co-hosted the third annual Veterans Jamboree Saturday, Sept. 14, to honor and support local veterans.

Qualifying open for District 5 county commission seat

Those interested in running for a vacant seat on the Habersham County Commission will be qualifying this week, Sept. 16-20. Ed Nichols, a commissioner for the past seven years, tendered his resignation from the District 5 seat at the commission’s Aug. 19 regular meeting.

CHATTAHOOCHEE MOUNTAIN FAIR ONGOING

The Chattahoochee Mountain Fair returned Sept. 6 to the Habersham County Fairgrounds, and will continue through Saturday in Clarkesville. Tonight, Sept. 13, Still Cruzin Duo will light up the night with entertainment, as will ever-popular carnival rides.

Habersham EMC, CEO Brad Hicks part ways

Habersham Electric Membership Corp. (HEMC) will soon be seeking a new CEO. After news of the former CEO’s departure began circulating around the community Wednesday, HEMC confirmed the rumor in a statement to The Northeast Georgian.
