County again OKs 2019 millage rate

After a procedural oversight caused the Habersham County Commission to set aside a previous vote on the proposed 2019 millage rate, it’s now a done deal. At a called meeting Wednesday and following a third public hearing, the commission voted 4-1 to assess a 2019 millage rate of 11.

Qualifying for local government starts Monday

Habersham County will see next week who’s interested in running for local government, and who qualifies to run for seats on councils and commissions across the community. “... Qualifying next week will be the same for all cities, Aug. 19-23, 2019, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Gov. Kemp speaks at Rotary

Gov. Brian Kemp was the guest speaker at the Rotary Club of Habersham County’s regular meeting Thursday, where he greeted a crowd of more than 100 people at the Cornelia Community House.

Kesler resigns as Clarkesville city manager

The Clarkesville City Council will soon be looking to hire a new city manager, as Clarkesville Mayor Barrie Aycock announced in a press release Tuesday, Aug. 6, Barbara Kesler submitted her resignation from the position after working for the city for more than 11 years.
