Barrett in the thick of everything for Raiders

   The game of football has the ability to unite communities. At the high school level, we see this play out every Friday night beneath towering steel light fixtures that light up early autumn skies.    As great as the sport is, there’s an unfortunate reality that comes with it.

Raiders run against deep field

   The Habersham Central Cross Country program sent a pair of runners to the Alexander/Asics Invitational in Fairburn over the weekend. The event is among the state’s most prestigious, fielding participants from all across Georgia and parsing them into several different divisions of competition.

Controversy puts end to Lady Raiders’ season

   It was a sad night for Habersham Central volleyball Monday as the Lady Raiders 2023 season came to a close. Habersham dropped its region tournament match at Apalachee in a 5-set thriller, 19-25, 25-19, 22-25, 25-21, 10-15.

Lady Indians win regular season title as win streak hits record 11

   Tallulah Falls set a new school record after back-to-back road wins on Thursday evening, taking down Barrow Arts & Sciences Academy and Prince Avenue Christian.    The wins improved the win streak to 11, which breaks the school record of 10 set both last season and earlier this year.

Raiders survive OT thriller

   Friday night’s pivotal region showdown between Habersham and Jackson County pitted two battered squads against each other with key Region 8-6A implications on the line. What ensued was an emotional roller coaster ride, ending in the Raiders topping the Panthers 34-27 in double overtime.

Lady Raiders battle for playoff spot Monday

   Tuesday was teacher appreciation night for HCHS volleyball. The evening began with varsity and JV players being introduced alongside teachers near and dear to each player.

TFS volleyball rolling to another long win streak

   Tallulah Falls’ volleyball team, playing for the first time in over two weeks, notched wins at home over Elbert County and Barrow Arts & Sciences Academy on senior night.    The straight-set wins carried the win streak to nine for No. 4-ranked Tallulah Falls, still unbeaten in area play.

Raiders hope for homecoming show

   Habersham Central returns to Mt. Airy Friday as the Raiders play host to the Panthers of Jackson County.    The feather in the cap of HCHS’ 2023 homecoming week, the matchup will undoubtedly feature an added dose of excitement.

Wade aims to impact gridiron and beyond

   Beginning at a very young age, Mt. Airy native Caleb Wade set his sights on two things - faith and football. But what sounds like the perfect premise for an old country song goes much deeper for Wade.

Lady Raiders vie for state berth

   All bets are off heading into the home stretch of the race for Region 8-6A softball’s 4th-place spot. With just seven regular season games remaining, Habersham Central is tied for 4th with Shiloh (Snellville) in the standings. The top 4 in the region earn a berth in the state tournament.
