Raiders look inward with Central Gwinnett looming

   An open week came at an opportune time for Habersham Central football, at least according to Coach Benji Harrison, who says his team was able to use the week to work on getting back to the basics.    “Last week really gave us an opportunity to focus on us,” Harrison said.

Lady Raiders down Lanier in five sets

   Habersham Central’s volleyball team hosted its first region match against Lanier on Tuesday night and came away with a clutch 5-set win, 25-18, 25-19, 17-25, 22-25, 15-13.

Let’s all take a bye week breath

   Man, do things happen fast. A mere matter of days ago we were on the cusp of a fresh campaign. The slate was clean of last year’s transgressions and the Raiders were taking the field, ready to make a run.    Now, two weeks removed from that palpable feeling of renewal, all is lost.

Lady Raiders look to find their groove at home

   Habersham volleyball split a doubleheader Thursday evening, falling to East Hall (8-4) in a three-set thriller before sweeping Stephens County in the nightcap.    Amayah Dooley was once again a reliable presence at the Lady Raiders’ libero spot.

Raiders soul searching after White County loss

   The Raider faithful descended on White County Friday hoping to see their beloved orange and blue bounce back after a brutal opening loss. Instead, Habersham was unable to ever get a foothold, falling to 0-2 with a 34-6 loss.

TFS Competitive Pony team shows off in competition

   The Tallulah Falls School Competitive Pony team traveled to Bowling Green, Ky., to compete at the Class A Miniature, Shetland and Show Pony Blue Grass Round-Up on Aug. 19-20.

COLUMN: Raiders down, but far from out

   Last Friday night was eventful to say the least. This community was chomping at the bit. You could see it the second that bottleneck traffic began to form in the vicinity roughly an hour before kickoff. The JLB was packed.

Full speed ahead to Cleveland for Raiders

   When the Raiders take the field behind enemy lines this evening, they’ll be doing so with clear heads, Habersham Central coach Benji Harrison insists.    “How the game last week ended doesn’t affect how good this football team is,” Harrison said.

‘Lot of shock, lot of tears, anger ...’

Habersham Central football has fallen victim to Stephens County plenty of times. What’s hard to argue, however, is that any of those previous occasions stings quite like Friday did – and will. Raiders Coach Benji Harrison summed it up best. “That one hurt, there’s no way around it,” Harrison said.
