Chase, crash end tragically

   A Demorest man tragically took his own life after a traffic stop in Clarkesville on Sunday night.    Around 10 p.m. Thursday, Clarkesville Police initiated a traffic stop on Madison Street near Clarkesville First Methodist Church.

Raiders shut down Gainesville

   The Diamond Raiders opened region play with a commanding 5-0 win over Gainesville behind a stellar performance on the mound by Kade Nicholson.    Nicholson pitched a complete game, allowing just 3 hits while striking out 9.

Springtime shenanigans

   Seeing as it’s that time of year, I’ve spent time recently reflecting on some of my favorite spring break memories.    Growing up in Augusta, spring break was always Masters week, which is typically the first week in April.

Lady Raiders soccer battles Gainesville in key region match

   Habersham Central's girls soccer team earned a sweep of Gainesville on Tuesday night with a 3-1 win.    The Lady Raiders got two goals from Paisley Cathey and one from Addi Banks.    Read more in the weekend edition of The Northeast Georgian.

   Clarkesville based beef and pork producer, teXga farms was recognized as number seven on the Bulldog 100 list which celebrates the 100 fastest-growing organizations owned or led by alumni of the University of Georgia.

Another lawsuit filed for prison atrocities

   A former prisoner at Lee Arrendale State Prison filed a lawsuit on Feb. 20 alleging former corrections officer Cameron Cheeks raped her while she was a prisoner at the facility in late 2022.

Raiders stage 8-run rally for wild win

   Aside from two early Raider runs, Tuesday’s tilt between Habersham and Hebron Christian was a clean, low-scoring affair. Until it suddenly wasn’t.    Thanks to an eight-run 6th inning, the Diamond Raiders dug themselves out of a five-run hole to steal a 10-7 victory at Raider Park.

TFS wins at CoolRay Field

   The lights weren’t too bright for No. 4-ranked Tallulah Falls and Rohajae Pinder, as the Indians grabbed an 8-6 win over East Jackson at Coolray Field in Gwinnett on Wednesday night.
