Diamond Raiders run into buzzsaw against North Forsyth

   Some sports are easier to play than others in heavy downpours. Baseball isn’t one of them. The Diamond Raiders were originally scheduled to play North Forsyth here at home Friday then again Monday at their place.

Cording, Ball notch hat tricks in 10-0 rout at Athens Christian

   The No. 2-ranked Indians made quick work on the road even in the pouring rain in a 10-0 win at Athens Christian on Friday. It marked the seventh straight win for TFS.

Lady Raiders capture first ever region championship

   Habersham Central's girls soccer team mercy-ruled Shiloh 10-0 Tuesday to wrap up the program's first region championship. The Raider boys beat Shiloh 6-0 to stay in the hunt for a region title as well.    Read more in the weekend edition of The Northeast Georgian.

   As the weather gets warmer, garden enthusiasts across North Georgia are eager to start putting their plants in the ground. But local master gardeners and horticulturists say Monday night’s cold snap is evidence of the need to wait just a little longer.

Habersham Central to honor alumnus doctor

   Dr. Aaron Scott did not know that his mom was working behind the scenes on his behalf.    Sheree Parrish of Cornelia is proud of her son’s accomplishments, so much so that she got him nominated for the Habersham Central High School Lifetime Achievement Award, an honor he will receive for 2024.

Habersham Success Academy spreads mental health awareness

   Sources of Strength, a student-led initiative at Habersham Success Academy is working to spread awareness about mental health and suicide prevention.    The group was piloted by school system mental health specialists Miriam Duncan, Angela Kerr and Kelsey Ondriezek.

Lady Raiders eye shot at region title

   It was horns down in Sugar Hill Tuesday night as both Habersham soccer squads dispatched Lanier 1-0 on the road.    The Lady Raiders (9-2, 8-1 Region 8-6A) took out the Longhorns 5-1 in Mt. Airy a month ago. The rematch would prove much closer.

Jaxco outduels Raiders, hands them first region loss

   The Diamond Raiders suffered their first region loss of the season at Jackson County Wednesday, falling 2-0 in Hoschton.    Habersham Central (12-3, 5-1 Region 8-6A) fell victim to strong pitching performances from a pair of Panther hurlers.

Kafsky scores 2 in OT to seal win for Lady Indians

   The No. 8-ranked Lady Indians secured an overtime win of 2-0 at Barrow Arts and Sciences on Tuesday night. Neither side got anything going in regulation offensively.    In the first half of the overtime, LB Kafsky scored off an assist from Iva Ristic for the eventual game-winner.
